Abraham Lincoln: Moses Rice Tissue Paper Photo of Ostendorf O-77. 10" x 12 3/4" tissue paper photograph tipped onto a 20" x 16" mount. Pencil inscription below reads: " Unretouched negative by Moses P. Rice Washington, D.C. 1864 Copyright by Rice Montreal Canada". The photograph was actually taken on November 8, 1863 by Alexander Gardner, as an employee of Mathew Brady. It is one of the two most famous and popular Lincoln portraits. Rice gained access to the glass negative through Brady's nephew, L. C. Handy of Washington, D.C. and proceeded to run off these (if you'll pardon the pun) "rice paper" photographs. Outside of two small glue spots at the top corners, it is in excellent condition.
