Abraham Lincoln: A Charming Brass Locket in the Form of a Book Containing His Bearded Photograph. Pendants and charms in this form seemed to have been extremely popular during the Civil War era. They opened to reveal foldout brass "pages" into which were inserted tiny albumen photographs surrounded by an oval mat. Lincoln is almost always pictured, but the other images are varied, but most often being Civil War generals. This exceptionally well-made example features six double-sided "pages" containing a total of 12 photographs. One is of Lincoln, while the other 11 are all of General Tom Thumb and/or other famous "little people" of the day. These completely unprotected paper photographs are generally found faded or significantly compromised by moisture damage. With one exception these photos are in remarkable condition, and that fact combined with the subject matter renders this one of the finest examples of this genre we have encountered. The book itself measures 0.75" x 0.875", and it folds open to a width of just over 4".

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
