    W. H. Emory. Military Reconnaissance of the Arkansas, Rio Del Norte and Rio Gila by W. H. Emory, Lieut. Top. Engrs. Assisted from Fort Leavenworth to Santa Fe by Lieut.s J. W. Abert and W. G. Peck, and from Santa Fe to San Diego on the Pacific by Lieut. W. H. Warner and Mr. Norman Bestor, Made in 1846-7, with the advance guard of the "Army of the West." Under Command of Brig. Gen. Stephn. W. Kearny. Constructed under the orders of Col. J. J. Abert Ch. Corps Top. Engrs. 1847. Drawn by Joseph Welch. C. B. Graham Lith. Wash. D.C. First edition. 69.5" x 32.5". Lithograph map. This accurate and comprehensive map played no little part in securing Emory further commissions to survey the southwest and border regions. Here, Emory locates towns, wagon routes, locations of "wild cattle", and mines; he also gives locations, names, and dates to battlegrounds, camps, military forts, Native American tribes, and even water holes. Emory also includes a barometric profile. The map is often encountered incomplete as it is comprised of three separate panels. This item is the complete map, with all three panels present, professionally pasted together. Some chipping to the folds, with slight discoloration to the regions of the map most exposed when folded. Very good.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
