VINCE DIMAGGIO STORE MODEL GLOVE. An uncommonly pristine survivor from the late-’30’s, this one is a ‘must’ for the vintage equipment collector. On the heels of younger brother Joe’s remarkable success in the mid-1930’s, it was hoped that a genetic strain may be discovered in the talents of Vince DiMaggio. One such hopeful beneficiary was Draper & Maynard who crafted this "DG 20" model glove for the commercial market. However, as a function of Vince’s marginal Major League achievement, only a modest few young amateurs could identify with this model. In all likelihood, the glove and as well, its original retail box, never found a customer. There’s absolutely no indication that the glove ever saw action; it’s virtually mint in every respect. Nor does the corresponding two-piece box evidence any significant handling. It does have a split in one corner, which it might well have incurred prior to retail display. Measuring 9 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 4 1/2", it is unusually clean and firm, and its D & M label is clean as well. A rare and perfectly preserved masterpiece of its genre.
