Very Fine CS Richmond Carbine with Period ID to 2d Virginia Cavalry. CS/ Richmond/ 1863 lock mark with breech date partially visible. All metal smooth and clean, absolutely no rust or pitting, just some scattered salt and peppering. 25" barrel, correct and original in every respect. Truly exceptional for a Confederate longarm. Mechanically perfect, deep crisp markings, excellent bore. Stock also exceptional with sharp edges and rich untouched patina. Just a small chip by the nose cap and one by the lower band. Both obviously very old and really of negligible consequence. Neatly carved in small block letters in the wood opposite the lock "Wm W. Duvall". William Waller Duvall enlisted in the Richmond Howitzers on 4/21/61 and on 3/13/62 transferred to Co. E 2d Virginia Cav., serving with that unit until 8/3/64. It was doubtless during his service with 2d Virginia Cav. that he was issued this carbine. Accompanied by the original Confederate made linen sling. A really exceptional Richmond carbine.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
