    Tucson, Arizona: Letter of United States Marshall. ALS by R.H. Paul, 8.125" x 10.875", dated June 28, 1891, Tucson, to J. L. T. Watters, Fort Thomas, in which U.S. Marshall Paul promises to "settle all outstanding bill of my deputies." The letter is on the letterhead of Office of United States Marshall, District of Arizona. The bottom of the letter includes a note signed by Watters indicating that he has returned bill for payment. The letter is accompanied by a photographic print of a 1899 photograph of interior of the Pima County Sheriff's Office in Tucson, showing Paul standing in the middle. A friend of Virgil and Wyatt Earp, Robert H. Paul (1830-1901) was a lawman in the Southwest United States for more than thirty years, serving as sheriff of Pima County from 1881-1886 and as U. S. Marshall for the Arizona Territory from 1990 to 1993. The letter has vertical and horizontal folds, but is in very good condition.
