Trio of Reward Posters. This lot includes: an 8.5" x 11" wanted poster from 1891 for Thomas Kennedy for abduction and robbery (annotated: "Caught Los Angeles") mounted on a ledger page (issued by the Detroit Police Department), a slighter smaller poster mounted on the reverse side of the page offering a $1,000 reward for the apprehension of bank employee Sylvester Young for the crime of grand larceny (woodcut illustration of Young, issued by Thiel's Detective Service of Louisville), and an 8.5" x 14" poster issued in 1903 by the Harry N. Morse Detective Service of San Francisco offering a $500 reward for the arrest of William Thomas Bunney for embezzlement of county funds (three minor holes near top). Besides running a detective service, Harry Morse earlier in his life was a highly successful lawman. In the early 1880's, Morse was hired by James Hume (Wells Fargo chief of detectives) to track down the notorious stage robber Black Bart which he eventually did.

Due to a computer error when this auction was posted on our web site, some clients were inadvertently able to place bids at below the established minimum bids published in the catalog. This has been corrected, and the minimum required bid now posted above either reflects that required opening bid or bidding action at or above the starting bid.
