    Description

R59 AMERICAN BEAUTY UNCUT SHEETS. The card issue, "American Beauties," was marketed by Gum, Inc., and though acknowledged as a 1944 product, it may have actually appeared earlier. The A.C.C. designated it "R59" implying that they were a gum insert. These cards however were obviously targeted for a different audience, and as such, were sold as a free-standing product in more mature venues. The artwork belonged to Mutascope who simply licensed authorization to Gum, Inc. in turn, are depicted by illustrated nomenclature for each. The last two pages plug that apothecary’s medicinal solutions for catarrh (a snazzy word for the ‘common cold’) and consumption, noting that the latter is opium-free! This 8" x 6" album has very minor damage at the bottom of the cover’s surface - EX.
