    Description

ORIGINAL ARTWORK - #99 FOR R164. With dignity, he’d pleaded with Western Powers to protect his fragile Ethiopian kingdom against Italian fascist. Exiled upon defeat, then restored by the British, Emperor Haile Selassie was a victim before the war then a hero in its duration. Among its several subjects, Gum, Inc.’s #99 in 1942’s "War Gum" saluted Selassie. And the original artwork for that card is here offered. The black and white board, 5 ½ x 8" is complete with its color transparency. A small border piece is missing in the overlay, but this artwork remains EX. Though unassigned, we believe, this to be the craft of George Moll.
