ALLEN & GINTER ALBUMS. The period 1888-1890 witnessed a profusion of card productions inserted singly with packs of cigarettes. One of the major players in this genre was Allen & Ginter. Their issues categorized an assortment of interests and were nearly all presented in sets of 50 different. Correspondingly, string-bound albums were available, primarily by coupon redemption, which replicated the images for most of these card sets. Their pages were usually embellished by elaborate finery and colorful detail. Two of those albums, both measuring 6" x 8", are here presented. The first, referenced as "A15" in the American Card Catalog, mirrors the card issue N27, "World’s Beauties, 2nd Series." With such beauties as Blanche Roosevelt and Lottie Forbes, we doubt that Bert Parks figured in these 50 selections. The other album, "World’s Racers" ("A18"), provides a detailing of then-famous race horses. Featured among these 50 are such sprinters as "Cyclops" (now there’s a handicap), "Insolence" and "Tea Tray." This album is the counterpart of N32. The covers on both are about VG/EX (mild crease on the "A18"). Attending these albums are their original mailing envelopes. These are light cardboard and, excusably, about Good condition, but their central virtue is that distinct Allen & Ginter logo. (# This item may require additional shipping charges).

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
