ALLEN & GINTER ALBUM. General government and state capitol buildings. Perhaps not an inspiring topic for our energetic 21st Century -- in the late 1800’s, however, such serialized information, especially if expressed in color illustration, was a mild thrill. The album presented here (A.C.C. A10) depicts all 50 subjects of Allen & Ginter’s card issue which is catalogued as "N14." It features various federal government buildings, but it’s central theme is state capitols. The album, with its corresponding card issue, posed some difficulties for its maker. Both of the productions were likely distributed in 1889-1890. And this period witnessed the statehood of both Dakotas, Montana and Washington. At the time, state capitols in those geographies may have been territorial court houses or saloons. Regardless, this album has survived the ages in splendid condition. A light crease is evident in the cover’s lower right, and there’s mild/moderate corner wear rendering this relic fully Excellent.
