    Description

ALLEN & GINTER ALBUM - GAME BIRDS OF AMERICA. The 1880's tobacco issue, N13, is illustrated in this album, catalogued A9.  It's the second edition of Allen & Ginter's "Game Birds of America."  This one is missing the original binding twine, but all the pages are included.  It measures 6" x 8 3/4", and we know that it once belonged to a Ralph Parkinson, because he neatly penned his name on the cover.  Aside from that minor distraction, this is truly a beautiful volume (as are most in this genre).  To be sure, the graphics of the album are a departure from the mainstream of pomp and ceremony -- this one provides glimpses of an America at leisure in the field.
