Tombstone Oddfellows Lodge: A Very Early Ribbon Badge and the Cochise Lodge Membership Ledger Beginning in September 1881. Even more so than in Eastern cities and towns, lodges played an important role in establishing and maintaining social, political, and economic order in towns of the Old West. This volume includes several hundred signed applications for membership, including questionnaires which stated age and profession and included their affirmation of belief in a Supreme Being. Among the prominent early Tombstone residents to be found in its pages: Joseph F. Lippert (well-known barber of choice to lawmen and outlaws alike) and W. A. Harwood (Tombstone mayor). Among the trades and professions listed: merchant, blacksmith, miner, county treasurer, lawyer, druggist, civil engineer, butcher, upholsterer, banker, teamster, painter, physician, mill man, carriage builder, stockman, saloon keeper, restaurant keeper, driver, hotel clerk, rancher, soldier, deputy sheriff, telegrapher, cowman, carpenter, surveyor, cattleman, printer, stableman and more. The entries continue up to the late 20th century, although there seems to have been a sharp drop off in new members after around 1930. A significant portion date from the 1880s-1890s. Fertile ground for any researcher interested in the early residents of Tombstone.

The Cochise Lodge badge is very rare, and has been beautifully placed in a shadow box frame for display. Also included is a leather change purse with "Alfred Godfrey, Tombstone Ariz." in gold letters, presumably the original owner of the badge.
