    Tombstone, Arizona: Three Documents Relating to the First Jewish Mayor. The three documents are 1) A billhead for "A.H. Emanuel, Wagon and Carriage Maker," circa 1900, 8.5" x 4 5/8." 2) Hall of Cochise Lodge No. 5, I.O.O.F. check, #638, 7 8/8" x 3.5," dated February 19, 1889, for the amount of $5.00 to one of the Lodge's committees, is endorsed by Emanuel. The check includes the stamp of the Lodge. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Cochise Lodge No. 5 was a fraternal organization founded in Tombstone in 1881 and remained active until the 1960s. 3) TLS dated April 1, 1896, 8" x 6.5," in which Emanuel declares that "I have this day sold unto Capt. J. J. McClelland one Pink painted house of three rooms, situated on Second Street in the town of Tombstone, A.T. for the sum of $40.00." A.H. Emanuel settled in Tombstone in 1880, where he opened a blacksmith and wagon shop. He became one of Tombstone's leading residents and was elected mayor in 1896 and subsequently re-elected in 1898 and 1900. All three documents are in fine condition.
