Tombstone, Arizona: Legal Document Regarding the Strange Death of a Tombstone Resident. A manuscript legal document in which a Peter P. Ackerson of the State of New York claimed to be the father of the recently deceased Jerome Ackerson of Tombstone, Arizona Territory, and thus was entitled "to administer upon the estate of said deceased" Peter Ackerson requested that John H. Jackson, a resident of Pima County, "be appointed administrator of the estate of said Jerome Ackerson, deceased." The 7.75" x 11.5" manuscript is written on both sides. Peter Ackerson's request to have Jackson administer the estate is signed by Ackerson on January 18, 1881. On the back of the document, Agnes E. Jackson, resident of Wayne County, New York, gives a sworn deposition on behalf of Peter Ackerson, claiming that he is in fact is the father and rightful heir of Jerome Ackerson. This section is signed by Agnes Jackson and M. L. Greenwood, Notary Public on January 18, 1881.

The manuscript is accompanied by a photocopy of a newspaper column announcing his death. Jerome B. Ackerson, a Tombstone cattleman, was found dead around November 1, 1880 with a bullet wound some thirty-five miles outside of the town. While some claim that he was murdered, the cause of death was never settled. Born in New York, Ackerson was one of the early residents of Tombstone. It is said that Wyatt Earp investigated his death. Outside of three horizontal folds, the manuscript is in excellent condition.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
