One page with integral address leaf, 8.25" x 10.5", Monterrey, Mexico, September 20, 1847, to Lt. B.H. Garrett, A.A.Qr.G., regarding army bureaucracy. [and:] Col. Mathew Arbuckle Letter to Col. James Gadsden. Three pages with integral address leaf, 8" x 9.75", New Orleans, November 1, 1821, regarding received orders. Gadsden was minister to Mexico when the U.S. purchased the southern parts of Arizona and New Mexico - known as the Gadsden Purchase. Letters are in good or better condition with fold separations, toning, and minor tears repaired with tape.
