    Postcard: Reward for the Capture of a California Outlaw, 5.5" x 3.25", postmarked April 14, 1900, addressed to A. C. Busch, the sheriff of Downieville, California, offering $10 reward for the capture of John Greaney. The printed postcard contains a description of the outlaw and bears the printed name of Sheriff Frank T. Johnson of Sacramento. Toned; fine. Ex Ben E. Pingenot.

    Printed on the postcard in part: "ESCAPED! Ten dollars reward will be paid for the capture of John Greaney, who escaped from Sacramento County Jail, April 11, 1900. Description - Twenty-eight or thirty years of age, about 6 feet tall, slim build, weight about 170 pounds, dark hair (no beard or mustache), bluish-grey eyes . . . was slightly lame from recent bullet would in groin, square shoulders. Wore, when last seen, black derby hat, dark square cut coat and vest, blue overalls (may have discarded them), tan shoes, prison or Siwash overshirt. Looks like a dope fiend. Is a macquerau and will be found around houses of disrepute and dives." Sheriff Frank T. Johnson's name, of Sacramento, California, appears in print at the end of the text.
