The Tombstone and Arizona Territory Collection

Pima County, Arizona: Three Agency County Bank Documents. Three documents from the early years of two Pima County banks. 1) ALS by P. W. Smith, to P. M. Jacobs, Cashier [of the Pima County Bank in Tucson], November 29, 1881, on 8" x 10" Agency Pima County Bank, Tombstone, letterhead. 2) A document, dated November 5, 1881, on 7 7/8" x 10" printed banking form on Agency County Bank, Tombstone, completed in ink and initialed by P.W. Smith, Manager. 3) A letter from B.M. Jacobs, Cashier, to P.W. Smith [Manager of the Agency Pima County Bank, Tombstone], December 2, 1881, on 8.5" x 10 7/8" printed banking form on Pima County Bank, Tucson, letterhead, completed in ink, possibly by Jacobs, but not signed.

The Pima County Bank was opened in Tucson in 1879 with Barron M. Jacobs (1846-1936) as cashier. Around the same time, an agency bank was opened in Tombstone, under the management of Lionel Jacobs (1840-1922), Barron's older brother, with Phillip W. Smith and Heyman Solomon serving as managers. These documents highlight banking practices in early Arizona history. There are two slight tears on the right hand margin of the second document without affecting text and a 3" tear on the bottom of the third document without affecting text. Otherwise the three documents are in good condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
