    Paymaster's Pocket Manual and Army Pay Table for 1864. [Washington]: [1864]. Measuring 5.5" x 8" and divided into two sections: "Soldier's Pay" and "Officer's Pay." The section for soldier's pay is tabbed along the right edge in increments of pay starting with 12 ½ cents up to $220, each page giving explanatory notes for each pay grade. Pay rates are included for all enlisted men and non-commissioned officers, "African soldiers" being listed separately, musicians, cooks, etc. Indexed on the inside front cover.

    The section of officer's pay is set up similarly to that for soldier's, though tabbed along the right edge by rank, second lieutenant through colonel with three additional tabs for "Staff or Organt'n," "Vol. Army Organt'n," and "Bounties." Index in the front for "Important General Orders from January 1, 1864, to August 1, 1864." Titles in gilt on both boards. Lightly soiled throughout. Boards are lightly worn with cracking along the spine.
