    Description

    ORIGINAL GENE MACK CARTOON ILLUSTRATIONS.

When the American Division of the NHL was developed in the early 1920's, there soon rose to prominence the Boston Bruins.  Their's was a dynasty spanning more than two decades -- always a force to be considered, and frequently winning their circuit.  Along the way, a masterful sports cartoonist with the Boston Globe fueled local enthusiasm for those Bruins.  His real name was Eugene McGillicuddy, but he signed his work (and was universally acclaimed) 'Gene Mack.'  Here presented is a selection of seven pieces of his original art as he prepared it for publication.  These were working pieces - most approximating 16" x 22" - and spotlighted then current stars such as Dit Clapper, Eddie Shore, Nels Stewart, Cooney Weiland, Harvey Jackson and Milt Schmidt.  All of these pieces were executed in pen and ink, and to facilitate their purpose, three of these have single staples (located in harmless areas).  Throughout however, none were harshly handled, and all will frame magnificently.  Please note: Due to the size and/or weight of this lot, additional shipping costs may apply.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
