Description
The Boston Gazette: Bound Volume. 14 1/2" x 21 1/2" bound volume of the "Boston Gazette", a twice-weekly newspaper, starting with February 1, 1802 and ending with December 30, 1802, with extras bound in. Contains 96 consecutive semi-weekly issues with long detailed coverage of the major events that took place. Among the events covered is the establishment of United States Military Academy at West Point, the Judiciary Act of 1802 which reorganized the federal court system, and the Enabling Act of 1802 authorizing the creation of Ohio. In Europe, the Treaty of Amiens that brought a temporary end to the War of the Second Coalition, and Napoleon being proclaimed First Consul for life.Previously owned by the Lowell City Library, as indicated by a paste-down on the first issue.
