Description
New-York Tribune: Bound Volume for the First Half of 1865. 16" x 21" volume, bound in marbled boards and reddish/brown cloth, spine titled "New York Tribune Jan.-June 1865" in two separate panels. The owner's name, William D. Henderson, is written on the free endpaper. The contents deal with the important events of the war, including Lincoln's second inaugural address (printed on March 6, 1865), the capture of Richmond, the surrender of Robert E. Lee, Lincoln's assassination (April 15th), the manhunt for the conspirators and the capture of Jefferson Davis. Issues of the New-York Times and New-York Herald (notably the April 17th issues with black mourning rules) are also bound in. Very good condition. An historic archive.Auction Info
