Founded in 1962 by Elijah Muhammad, this newspaper was the official publication for the Nation of Islam during Malcolm X's leadership. After Malcolm X's death, the newspaper was renamed numerous times, finally becoming the Muslim Journal that is still in circulation today. Each issue contains reports of discrimination against African-Americans, as well as news of uprisings and tensions building within America. Many of the headlines refer to the problems as if the country were on the brink of war. The Progress Issues are special photographic sections.

Condition: Varying degrees of toning and chipping throughout. Flattened folds, with some soiling in places.
