    [Charles Thomson's Resolution Concerning Privateers]. The Connecticut Journal, April 10, 1776. Four pages, 8.5" x 13.75", New Haven, Connecticut; April 10, 1776. The Connecticut Journal, No. 443. Printed by Thomas and Samuel Green. It features a reprint of the resolution passed by the Continental Congress on March 23, 1776, authorizing the privateering of colonial ships. It reads in part: "Whereas Petitions of these United Colonies to the King...have not only been rejected, but treated with Scorn and Contempt...And whereas the Parliament of Great Britain hath lately passed an Act, affirming these Colonies to be in open Rebellion; forbidding Trade and Commerce with the inhabitants thereof....declaring their Property...on the Water, liable to Seizure and Confiscation...Congress...DO DECLARE AND RESOLVE...That the Inhabitants of these Colonies be permitted to fit out armed Vessels to cruise on the Enemies of these United Colonies..."

    Condition: Dampstain to recto with some light foxing and soiling throughout. Worming to upper margin. Light edgewear.
