Description

The Man from Planet X (United Artists, 1951). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style A. This atmospheric early sci-fi, directed by Edgar G. Ulmer, is set on a Scottish island and features some fun special effects. The mysterious Planet X has been seen circling closer to earth and a friendly alien approaches the human scientists in a gesture of good will. He is met, however, by the selfish Dr. Mears (William Schallert) who gives the visitor a bad impression of earthlings, forcing him to take over their minds. Robert Clarke, Margaret Field, and Raymond Bond co-star. This poster has had professional restoration to repair missing paper in all the borders extending slightly into the artwork. It also had fold wear, with a small chip at the top of the vertical fold. The restoration was immaculately done and these issues are no longer apparent. With its unique and colorful artwork, this rare poster is always a favorite of the genre and a top find. Good- on Paper. From the Jerry Weist Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
