Prison Bait (Million Dollar Pictures, 1939).
    One sheet, paper-backed poster
    27" x 41" (68.58 x 104.14 cm)
    Cleveland; [1944]

Featuring an all-black cast. Starring Louise Beavers, Reginald Fenderson, Monte Hawley, Eugene Jackson, Freddie Jackson and Bob Simmons. Directed by Leo C. Popkin.

The film was first released in 1939, under the title Reform School, but was re-released as Prison Bait in 1944. This is the original 1939 one sheet; it simply has a snipe with the new title affixed. The film explores the injustices of the juvenile delinquent prison system. Louise Beavers (1902-1962) appeared in over one hundred films, including Uncle Tom's Cabin (1927), Bombshell (1933), and Imitation of Life (1934). Beavers was often typecast as a housekeeper, and came to embody the "Mammy" archetype throughout her career. Her last role was in The Facts of Life (1961), starring Lucille Ball and Bob Hope. Beavers passed away the following year at the age of 60. She was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame in 1976.

Condition: Light creasing in places, with some possible separations at folds that have been reinforced with the paper backing. Overall very good.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
