    Description

    Life Is Real (Universal, 1934).
    Two window cards
    9.25" x 22"
    Fowler, Indiana; 1934

Two window cards produced by Bower Show Print. Starring Nina Mae McKinney, Harry Scott, and Eddie Whaley. One has handwritten at the top margin, "Starke Colored School Monday - Tuesday Admission 22¢."

The film was originally released in the UK under the title Kentucky Minstrels. The film was made in 1934 and was the first British film to star African-Americans. The team of Scott and Whaley had immigrated to England in 1909 and had quickly ascended in popularity throughout Europe. Producer Harry S. Pepper produced their radio show The Kentucky Minstrels from 1934 to 1950, and then came to them with this film project. McKinney had made a cinematic splash in 1929 in King Vidor's Hallelujah! but had little screen success afterwards. She was a huge star in Europe, billed as The Black Garbo and thus, was a natural for the final number in The Kentucky Minstrels.

Condition: There is toning, soiling, and foxing throughout both. There is a hole with some paper loss on one. The other (with writing at the top) has five holes throughout center.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
