MASSIVE 1899-1902 SCRAPBOOK OF WEST POINT FOOTBALL CAPTAIN E.E. FARNSWORTH. Assembled by Mrs. Farnsworth, it includes detailed history and mementoes of his years at the Point, with heavy emphasis on athletics, with which he was heavily involved. Literally hundreds of items! Just to give a sense of what is here: The actual large fabric "A" from his letter sweater; orders and assignments galore, illustrating the West Point regimen of the day; numerous newspaper clipping and great photos, especially of athletic events; articles about hazing practices; 1901 Army-Navy program cover (only); various West Point football scorecards; complete 1901 Song book; original 8 1/2" x 11" football play diagrams, as distributed to players; numerous invitations, programs, menus for West Point social functions; numerous original photos of cadet life; engraved invitation for Farnsworth’s wedding to a daughter of the prominent Pullman family; early ocean liner menu; track and field programs; engraved wedding invitation from Elihu Root for marriage of his daughter to U.S. Grant III; colorful early post and greeting cards; numerous letters from socially prominent people; official list of orders from commandant regarding schedule and expected conduct of home and visiting football teams on game weekends; and more! Not mounted but included is a studio photo of Farnsworth in his football sweater, showing the letter which is in the album. Cloth cover is worn on spine, otherwise VG. Pages show usual deterioration due to the brittleness of the paper used for the album pages. However, most of the mounted items are in nice shape. Certainly a one-of-a-kind history, with heavy football focus. Album is 10" x 14", and 3 1/2" thick. (# This item may require additional shipping charges).
