    Description

Manuscript Song Sheet Titled "Texas Boys". Two pages, 8" x 10"; undated, but possibly Civil War period. A tongue in cheek depiction, the first verse reads: "Come all you Mississippi girls & listen to my noise / And don't you marry those Texas boys / The Texas boys they have no feeling / I tell you girls theyre allways stealing / They'll take you up on a sand jack hill / And that will be against your will."

With a note at the end: "You need not believe every word of the above song, but it is a tolerably fair picture of the rougier [rougher] class of Texans. P.C.M." From the Robert E. Davis Collection.

Condition: With flattened folds, with some weakness thereat including bits of paper loss. Scattered foxing, in particular on verso. Uneven left edge, likely resulting from removal of a blank integral.
