DescriptionMacabre "Hangman's Noose" Associated with the Medicine Lodge Bank Robbery. By oral tradition this simulated version of the nooses that hanged three of the robbers was for many years kept in the desk of the bank's president. When visitors to the bank asked about the famous robbery, he would use the noose as a "prop" when recounting the bloody tale. Fine string wrap shows evidence of considerable age. Length 9".
Len Gratteri had sought for some years to acquire this artifact, but was only able to do so in 1997, after the bank's former president died and the current possessor of the noose felt at liberty to sell it.
