    Description

Lyndon B. Johnson Civil Rights Bill Signing Pen from the Estate of Congressman Dan Rostenkowski. One of the pens used by the President to sign the Civil Rights Act (H. R. 7152) on July 2, 1964, an act that formally ended segregation. This act is considered to be one of the ten legislative landmarks in U.S. history. Mounted and framed with a Newsweek story photo of Johnson's hands as he signs the bill. Glass has heavy soiling to interior. Age toning to photo and mount.

Offered together with two Lyndon B. Johnson signed photographs. The first is an oversized Lyndon B. Johnson Signed Photograph, 14" x 11". Signed in the bottom margin, "To Danny / My dear friend / L.B.J." Image has faded but signature remains bold. The second photo measures 7.5" x 9.5" and is mounted to an overall size of 11" x 14"; inscribed on the mount below the image: "To Dan Rostenkowski with warm regards from his friend Lyndon B. Johnson." With a few stray stains.
