    Land bounty issued to a veteran of the Texas Revolution

    Land Bounty Certificate Issued to Marshall B. McKeever Affixed to a Document Assigning the Certificate to J. M. Lyons. Certificate number 363, 5" x 4.25"; Columbia; October 19, 1836. Issued to M B McKeever for "nine hundred sixty acres of Bounty Land for 9 mos service commencing Oct 22d and ending as a Private in Capt Cooks Comp Aug 17, 1836 [signed] Geo. M. Poe." The certificate is affixed to a legal filing assigning the bounty to J.M. Lyons in exchange for a 'Valuable consideration", and gives Lyons power of attorney. A draft of this agreement is written on the back of the certificate. The certificate is affixed to the document. The Texas military rolls lists a soldier by the name of M McKeevor who served from October 12, 1835 until July 25, 1836 under William Graham. A Marshall D. Mckeevor is listed on the rolls as serving in the capture of Bexar. From the Robert E. Davis Collection.

    Condition: Heavy toning to the certificate. The bounty transfer has heavy wear with tears and creasing at margins, particularly heavy along the top margin; also separations at folds
