We are pleased to present what is certainly the most extensive

selection of these scarce and always-popular broadsides ever to

appear in a single auction. They offer great display appeal for the

collector of Lincoln assassination material, as well as for aficionados

    of 19th century theatrical ephemera.

John Wilkes Booth: 1863 Boston Museum Playbill. 4.75" x 13.5" playbill for February, 2, 3, and 4, 1863 appearances of Booth as the sculptors Phidias and Raphael in "The Marble Heart" at the Boston Museum. Booth performed these two roles four times in three days, including an afternoon and evening show on February 4, as part of a four-week engagement at the Boston Museum. The local press offered praise for Booth's performance, especially as Raphael, and noted an overflowing audience for the show on February 2. The playbill also announced that "Due notice will be given of MR. BOOTH'S next impersonation of RICHARD III and PESCARA." The playbill was printed by F.A. Searle in Boston.
