JOHN TENER NATIONAL LEAGUE BASEBALL. Appearing at some point during the regime of John Heydler (1918-1934), National League balls bore the simulated signature of the league's president.  Before Heydler, the only reference to determine vintage now available is a baseball's identifying box -- which brings us to this catalog entry.  It's a Spalding Official National League baseball - unused and with its original box.  As the seal has a single separation (and its adhesive now partially ineffective), the box has been opened.  Therein is discovered a Mint baseball according to perscription.  It has the proper Spalding stampings (with no identity of the league's president, of course) along with the expected red and black stitching.  It is that seal around the perimeter of the box, however, that captures our attention.  In printed detail, it dates the ball to "December 15th, 1913," and projects the simulated signature "John K. Tener Pres't National League."  Our only qualification here is that this standardized seal may have remained unchanged through Tener's administration, which then expands this ball's vintage to the term 1913-1918.  While the seal is separated and fragile, it is unabused and fully legible, and the phenomenal box is Near Mint.  Additional shipping cost may apply.
