John F. Kennedy: 34 Original Photographs of JFK Meeting with Harold Macmillan in the Bahamas. Each is 8" x 10". In December 1962, just two months after the Cuban Missile Crisis, President John Kennedy traveled to Nassau, Bahamas, to meet with British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan and Canadian Prime Minister John Diefenbaker for several days of discussions during which they addressed world affairs about Berlin, the Congo, the European Market, the Sino-Indian War, and nuclear armaments. Out of these meetings arose the Nassau Agreement which established the United Kingdom's Polaris missiles as part of a multi-lateral force within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and could be used independently only when "supreme national interests" intervened. Following the signing of the agreement, President Kennedy planted a commemorative tree with Macmillan and Diefenbaker at his side. Featured here are 34 original photographs taken by White House photographer Robert Knudsen during those three days in the Bahamas: 9 color photographs of the dignitaries (7 in which JFK appears); 14 color photographs of the locations; and 11 black-and-white photographs of a press conference with Pierre Salinger, Presidential Press Secretary. Color photographs date stamped Dec 1962. Fine condition. From the Robert Knudsen Collection.

From the collection of Dr. Dean Rudoy.
