    John Dillinger: Tucson Arrest Archive. Dillinger and his gang (Harry Pierpont, Russell Clark and Charles Makley) were arrested in Tucson, Arizona on January 25, 1934. This lot has nine items related to their capture. These include three Tucson Police Department forms listing items taken from Dillinger and Pierpont at their hideout located at 927 North 2nd Avenue. The forms measure 13" x 8.5" and have tape repairs and other minor faults. The booty included tommy guns, ammunition clips, bullet-proof vests, hand cuffs, a Winchester rifle, etc. There is also a copy of the December 1935 issue of the "Arizona Sheriff and Police Journal" with a cover photo of the Tucson Police Department (chipping and faults), a copy of the "Tucson Police Annual 1934" with story on the arrest of the Dillinger Gang (covers detached), an 8" x 10" glossy group shot of the department, a 5" x 3" mug shot of Dillinger side-kick Russell Clark, a telegram from the Indianapolis Chief of Police asking the Tucson Chief of Police to send Dillinger there to stand trial for bank robbery, and a telegram from the East Chicago, Indiana Chief of Police to the Tucson Chief of Police asking him to check for serial numbers on $5 bills retrieved from the Dillinger hideout.
