    John Adams & Thomas Jefferson: Counting Votes in the 1800 Election and Ballots for Jefferson. 1) March 15, 1797 issue of the "Columbian Centinel" of Boston. The second page reports on the swearing-in ceremonies for President John Adams and Vice President Thomas Jefferson, along with the text of their speeches. 2) December 20, 1800 issue of "The Spectator" of New York. Page 3 gives the election returns showing a tie-vote in the Electoral College between Jefferson & Burr, with Adams & Pinckney in second place (small loss to upper right corner). 3) February 18, 1801 issue of the "Columbian Centinel. Massachusetts Federalist." Page 2 reports on balloting for the Presidential Election with Jefferson in the lead, but Burr expecting to pass him on the subsequent ballot and gain election. John Marshall has also agreed to serve as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (minor loss to corner and right border). 4) March 17, 1801 issue of the "New-England Palladium" of Boston. Page 2 has the text of President Jefferson's inaugural speech. Excellent. Four papers altogether.
