JACKIE ROBINSON CANDLE HOLDER. With the arrival of Jackie Robinson to major league baseball, there came an expansive host of souvenirs and commemoratives.  Abounding were coin banks, comic books, calendars and advertising endorsements targeting the Afro-American community.  As well, there appeared a much smaller selection of obscurities - some of them thrifty and perishable, others durable and well-crafted.  Of the latter is this simple, yet weighty candle holder.  It features a horizontally oriented walnut base measuring about 4 3/4" x 7".  Then recessed in the foreground is a shallow glass cavity to accommodate a candle.  At the front of the base is a nameplate bearing Robinson's simulated autograph.  The most prominent component is, naturally, his likeness, ready at the bat.  Above the base, this figure stands 4" and, complete with "42" on the "uniform's" reverse, the posture is convincingly Robinson.  The felt-bottomed base has a few minor blemishes on its surface (although the integrity of the corners and edges is perfect).  The figure stands on a laureled base and has tarnished only slightly.  In all, this piece would be welcomed into any quality collection at EX+.  Additional shipping cost may apply.
