    J. Eppinger & F.C. Baker. Map of Texas Compiled from Surveys Recorded in the General Land Office. 1852. New York, 1852. 24.5" x 30.75" (unfolded), bound with brown cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on cover, 32mo. The second issue of this map, which was "Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1851 by Sherman & Smith in the Clerks Office of the District Court for the Southern District of New York." This pocket map shows the more established counties in the east, with relief shown by hachures. The area north of the Red River is marked as, "The Wacoes, Witchitas, Caddos, Tiwockanas, Towieash, Keechies, Ionies, Anadarchees and Kickapoos occupy Red River and its branches above the Cross Timbers." Inset map at lower left titled, "Map of New Mexico, California, and Utah." A copy of this 1852 edition in boards sold at auction for $25,300 in 2001.

    Condition: Bold original color. Creasing throughout, with minimal foxing. Gently toned and chipping at edges. Brown cloth boards are worn with bumped corners and spine. Areas of staining to the boards. Overall very good.
