    J. Eppinger & F.C. Baker. Map of Texas Compiled from Surveys Recorded in the General Land Office. 1851. New York, 1851. 24" x 30.25" (sight), matted and framed to an overall size of 36.25" x 43.25".This is the first issue of this map, which would be published again the following year. Originally issued with boards (not present), this pocket map shows the more established counties in the east, with relief shown by hachures. Inset map at lower left titled, "Map of New Mexico, California, and Utah." The only sales record available for the 1851 edition is a 1963 Eberstadt listing a sales price of $250 (with boards). An 1852 edition with boards sold for $25,300 in 2001. Ex. Arader Galleries.

    Condition: Bold original color, and smoothed folds. Gently toned with a single tiny stain occurring at a fold intersection in the top left corner area.
