GIANTS IN THE LAND OF GRAPEFRUIT. In the same spirit as the 1931 Yankee appearing in this catalog, presented here is a New York Giant Spring Training Itinerary for 1939.  The covers of this 4" x 9" (compacted) are subtly colored to replicate the woodgrain of a bat.  When opened, we discover a host of player facts, assigned hotels (during training and the regular season) as well as game and traveling schedules.  The Giants trained in Baton Rouge, and as such (due to the cost of travel) there was limited variety in their competition (mostly against the Indians). There are eight panels of information included, and therein we may learn that when in New Orleans, accommodations were provided by the Roosevelt Hotel.  Or, we may reaffirm that at 5' 9" and 160 lbs., Mel Ott hit 36 homers the previous season. (How did he do it!)   Though we must assess this pamphlet as VG/EX-EX (mild dings and wear at the corners), it can't be overstated how very few of these were in circulation, even in 1939, because they had no commercial value - but instead, purpose to only a very few.
