George III Land Indentures (2) Awarding Land to British Officers in New York State. Both documents are on vellum, each measures approximately 18" x 12.25", both are dated January 18, 1775, and are for land in "Orange County, on the West Side of Hudson's River". The first indenture awards land to James Marcus Prevost for his service during the "late War". Prevost fought in the French Indian War and was wounded at Ticonderoga. He would return to service in the British Army with the outbreak of the Revolutionary War and served under his brother, General Augustine Prevost in the 1779 campaigns in Georgia and the Carolinas. With wax seal intact, the indenture is framed to an overall size of 24" x 25.25" with engravings of George III and Cadwallader Colden.

The second indenture awards land to Robert Harris, also a French and Indian War veteran. With full seal intact and attached with string. With some transfer staining from the seal; the indenture has been stored folded resulting in deep folds. Filing dockets on verso.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
