    Original Painting by Garth Williams and Layout Materials for Dust Jacket of Stuart Little

    Garth Williams. Original watercolor and preliminary artwork and layout materials for dust jacket of Stuart Little, 1945. Original watercolor on stiff watercolor paper measuring approximately 17 x 11 inches, with one detailed printed acetate overlay, and one tracing paper overlay with Williams' handwritten instructions. Also with two stiff paper boards with color separation guides measuring 15 x 11.25 inches, both of which are signed in full by Williams in ink. Also with a rough print pass with handwritten dust jacket dimensions and watercolor marks. Tracing paper overlay has tape across its width in order to extend the sheet to fit the watercolor. Mylar overlay is split across entire width and has been repaired with tape. The original watercolor is bright and vibrant and is in fine condition. The other pieces are very good or better condition.
