    Description

Las Vegas Casinos: $25 MGM Grand Chip. MGM Grand $25 Special issue. Incused lion on obverse, building on reverse with wider rim. Navy with .999 silver center. Slightly used condition with a crack in the plastic rim. A very interesting chip with very little known about its history. What is known is that there are a total of nine different versions of this unusual type of $25 chip with a metal center and they were issued in the 1970's by the MGM Grand and Caesars Palace. The centers are either silver, aluminum or brass with different combinations of pictures of the buildings, the MGM lion or stars such as Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra. The colors also vary with blue and navy on most but some versions in yellow, white and black. The conjecture is that they were given to high rollers for different events or concerts. All versions are very rare R10 (2-3 known) with some being unique.
