Las Vegas Casino Chips: Desert Inn $5 Chip. Desert Inn $5 chip, 4th issue, mustard with 3 dark blue inserts, Arodie mold (dice and arrowheads). Issued in 1953, the portrait of Wilbur Clark appears on both sides. It is rated R-9 on the rarity scale by Campiglia & Wells. We would grade it AV [average]. Around 1960, the cataloger's father was offered the job of assistant comptroller at the Desert Inn, but didn't wish to relocate to Las Vegas. A month later, the comptroller died. In hindsight, seems like a bad choice. Win some, lose some!
