Perhaps continuing to the present, the United States Olympic Committee has published (every four years) reports on the most previous Olympiads.  This collection of four is a continuum of 1948, 1952, 1956 and 1960.  These provide an impressive presence as they are dimensionally similar (all with hardbound covers measuring 9" x 12", and all between 400 and 500 pages).  Their covers are unique one to another, yet they project in similar basic design.  The 1948 covers the Summer and the Winter events, while those of '52, '56 and '60 summarize Summer, Winter and the Pan American Games.  Specifically, the pages are about EX/MT throughout and detail - by extensive text and photographs - all the Olympian highlights of their reporting periods.  All remain securely bound, but bear evidence of reference use.  Individually, their covers grade:  1948 - VG/EX, with minor damage at the spine; 1952 - EX, with light vertical crease;  1956 - EX, with Dewey Decimal number on spine; and 1960 - EX/MT.  Due to the size and/or weight of this lot, additional shipping costs may apply.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
