EXTREMELY RARE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO FOOTBALL LETTER BLANKET AWARDED TO COACH H.G. GALE IN 1929 TO COMMEMORATE THE WINNING OF THE WESTERN CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN 1899. Coach Gale was honored for having been an assistant coach to Amos Alonzo Stagg on the 1899 team. He also played on four of Coach Stagg’s earliest teams at Chicago, 1892-1895. This blanket is in near-perfect condition with sewn on letters and piping. Great tie-in to four decades of Chicago football history; in fact nearly all of it! Letter blankets are often the last of grandfather’s college items to leave the family due to their utility and this beauty is no exception, having been used by the Gale family for several generations! One of the most significant examples of this traditional honor award ever offered. Excellent condition but for some inconsequential tiny moth holes. 64 x 60." (# This item may require additional shipping charges).
