    Exceptionally Rare Passes to the "Grand Review of the Army". Pair of 3 5/8" x 2 1/2" blue pasteboard passes, titled "For the Review. Stand No. 1/ Admit the Bearer./ By command of Major General Augur." Signed by A. C. Hines [?], Ass't. Adjt. General." Some light soiling on one example. Sharp corners on both. Accompanied by the original envelope which is inscribed "Tickets used by G. H. S. and family/ on the President's stand at the Grand Review of the Army (after Conquering a/ peace) in Washington Tuesday & Wednesday/ May 23rd & 24th 1865". The event was memorialized in a famous photograph. In addition to President Johnson, Ulysses S. Grant and Edwin Stanton appeared in the reviewing stand.
