    Description

U.S. 15-Star Silk Flag With Painted Stars. 28" x 16". A well-produced flag with individually sewn stripes and a canton featuring 15 white-painted stars arranged in rows of 3/2/3/2/5/2. There is a 1" wide pole sleeve sewn at the hoist end. The 15-star flag was the official flag from 1795-1818 with the addition of the states of Kentucky and Vermont. This flag obviously dates from a later period, perhaps from the centennial of one of the states admitted. With a split running the full length of the fourth white stripe from the top, thumbtack holes in each corner, some wear to the white paint on the stars.
