    Printed Petition Regarding Retail Business in Nuevo Leon. Seven pages, 6.25" x 8.5", November 18, 1828. With this imprint, the City Council of Nuevo Leon petitions Governor Manuel Gómez Castro to enact a law that would prohibit foreign citizens from conducting retail business in the state. The petition notes that "The foreigners, sir, and especially the Americans, are unscrupulous in their theft of our national incomes" and calls upon Governor Castro to prohibit foreigners from being able to conduct business of any sort in the state, mentioning specifically business related to manufacturing, the production of foodstuffs, and silver and gold paste. Document shows a creamy overall age toning and is in outstanding condition.
